๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ฟ VPL: Azam held, Yanga march on

Second-placed Azam FC were on Sunday held to a one-all draw by Mbeya FC in a Vodacom Premier League played at Samora grounds.

The draw sees Azam remain second with 37 points, ten off runaway leaders Simba FC who beat Coastal Union 2-0 on Saturday.

Absalom Chidiebele opened the scoring for Mbeya City in the ninth minute and looked like they were cruising to victory over their more illustrious opponents. However, Richard Djodi saved Azam blushes with an 88th-minute leveller.

Yanga rises

In another match played on Sunday, Yanga beat visiting Mtibwa Sugar 1-0. A David Molinga 50thminute strike was all the difference as Yanga climbed to fourth with 31 points after 16 matches, two less than their rivals Simba and Azam.

Elsewhere, Prisons beat KMC 1-0 at National Stadium while JKT went down 1-0 to Polisi at the same venue.
