Zamalek president dares Esperance ahead of African Super Cup

Zamalek president Mortada Mansour on Wednesday said that they respect Esperance but are not afraid of them ahead of Friday's African Super Cup clash in Doha, Qatar.

Mansour said that they're aware of the threat posed by Tunisiansbut they're equal to the task.

“They have won the last two editions. They are a big opponent but they don't scare us. African Super Cup is a trophy that has eluded us for 17 years, ” he said. 

Zamalek last won this title in 2003 and previously in 1994 and 1997. 

He also revealed that the CAF Confederation Cup defending champions have been promised a huge financial bonus if they beat Esperance.

Initially, Zamalek had refused to travel to Qatar citing prevailing political differences between Egypt and the Qataris. They accepted to travel after they were assured of security by their hosts.

This will be second African SuperCupDoha is hosting in as many years as part of a three-year deal between Qatar and CAF.
