Atletico Madrid set to excercise Mohammed Salisu's €12m clause

Atletico Madrid are reportedly considering the possibility of paying the buy-out clause of Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Salisu, Ghanasoccernet reported.

Salisu has attracted the attention of several top clubs in Europe following his impressive displays for Real Valladolid this season.

The 20-year-old has been solid in defence in a side that has conceded 27 goals from 24 matches played - the sixth-best in the La Liga.

Last week several publications reported that Real Madrid are looking to sign Salisu and add to their already group of talented youngsters.

However, Real Valladolid are set for an interesting battle for their rising defender as Atletico Madrid joined the rapid race alongside Real Madrid.

The Rojiblancos are reportedly keen to pay the €12 million release clause before the opening of the European transfer window.

Salisu is said to be interested in the possibility of joining Atletico Madrid as he wants to improve his game and challenge himself amongst other youngsters.

He scored one goal and provided one assist from 24 appearances for Valladolid this season.
