Arsenal found the back of the net first through Sokratis Papastathopoulos in the first half's added minutes, from a corner.
Nelson's initial corner was cleared but he got a second opportunity to whip the ball into the box.
It was a fine cross from the winger that picked out Sokratis, but it was an even better finish from the Greek defender, who reacted brilliantly to turn the ball into the bottom corner from 10 yards for his first FA Cup goal.
The Gunners got the second goal through Eddie Nketiah in the 51st minute, after a first start from the second-half kickoff.

Nelson burst past Seddon before whipping in a brilliant ball for the young striker.
The forward got a fortunate touch of the ball as after his initial bad first touch, the ball fell very kindly for him, and he reacted quickly and lifted it into the roof of the net to extend Arsenal's lead.
The major injury in the match was to Arsenal's Lucas Torreira, who was taken off the pitch on a stretcher in the 15th minute.
Mikel Arteta opted to replace the Uruguay international with Dani Ceballos, who impressed in his appearance.
Pablo Mari debut
Arsenal had a debutant on the field with defender Pablo Mari playing the full 90 minutes. He worked well with Sokratis at the back and they were a solid duo throughout the match.
