Zamalek players end strike over unpaid wages

Zamalek players have ended their two-day after strike over unpaid wages after meeting the club president Mansour Mortada.

The White Knights had stayed away from training on Sunday after they demanded full payment of their pending wages. The go-slow threatened to derail their preparations for the CAF Champions League quarterfinal return leg against Esperance on Friday in Rades.

After resolving the standoff, Mortada called on the players to remain focused on the upcoming match and blamed a "media campaign which aims to destabilize the squad".

The newly crowned African Super Cup and Egypt Super Cup champions are in control of the last-8 tie after beating Esperance 3-1 in the first leg played in Cairo.

The Patrick Carteron charges did light training and gym session on Monday as they prepare for the crucial tie. They jet out to Tunisia on Tuesday evening.
