The music world is mourning the death of world-renowned saxophonist Manu Dibango who succumbed to the deadly Covid-19 on Tuesday morning in France.
The news of the death of the 86 year old Cameroonian was announced on his official Facebook page on Tuesday morning.
As the music and entertainment industry mourns the passing of the icon, older African football aficionados will recall with nostalgia the catchy 1972 African Cup of Nations official anthem.
The 1972 edition was hosted by Cameroon and he performed at the opening and closing ceremonies.
It is interesting to note that the 2020 African Nations Championship was scheduled to take place in Cameroon as well as next year's AFCON.
The two tournaments are however in doubt following the deadly coronavirus pandemic that has killed the music icon.
We hope that the organisers of the two editions will mount an epic tribute to Manu Dibango, an avid supporter of African football.
