Legendary former Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa has decided to call time on his coaching career.
Chidzambwa came out to the media to announce he is retiring at the age of 67 but will be available as a consultant rather than straining his health on the bench.
“I can say my days as a coach are over. I’m turning 68 this year, so sitting on the bench won’t be good for me, but I can have an advisory role to help other coaches,” Chidzambwa told Star FM.
Chidzambwa's career high was leading Zimbabwe to its first AFCON appearance in 2017 and 2019. The veteran concluded with a classy comment to open the way for newer coaches coming up in Zimbabwean football.
“Everything has to come to an end, even people can die. I played my part, if someone is not convinced, then that is his opinion, and if he respects it, that’s his opinion too.
“My time is up, I need to give others a chance, the young coaches who have modern ideas,” he concluded.
