Brazilian legend Cafu has claimed that country mate Neymar is a better player technically than his former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi.
Neymar is considered one of the most gifted players in the world of football and has even been lectured by a referee over his showboating this season.
The 28-year-old had one of his best seasons while at Barcelona but many thought his departure to PSG was instigated by Messi outshining him in the team.
Messi holds the overall record for the most Balon d'Ors, having clinched the accolade six times but Cafu, who won the Wolrd Cup twice, claimed that his countryman stands supreme in the entertainment stakes.
Speaking to Fox Sports, Cafu said: “Technically, Neymar is the best player in the world. Today, technically, nobody can beat Neymar. Not even Messi, although I am a fan of him. But he does not surpass him in terms of technical quality.”
Neymar has netted 16 goals for PSG this season while Messi is on 21 goals with the pair being touted to play together next season with the former determined to seal a return to the Camp Nou.
According to Diario Sport, Neymar’s representatives have already met with their Barcelona counterparts as they work on a deal which is expected to be around £135million.
