Nemanja Matic is on course for a contract extension at Manchester United, but it was not all roses with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the beginning of the season as he froze him out of the first team.
At the beginning of the season, Ole preferred Fred, Andreas Pereira, and Scott McTominay but of late it has been Matic and Fred starting, with Pereira frozen out.
The Times reports: “You could see there was an issue between them.”
The Serbian has earned his spot back in the starting squad and is a regular starter for Ole, as a cover for the back four.
Speaking ahead of the Manchester Derby before the Premier League suspension Solskjaer said: “We have agreed with him so he will stay. 100 percent.”
The 31-year-old's contract was due to expire in the summer and he has started nine of the last 10 Premier League games for United and only missed the goalless draw with Wolves due to a one-match suspension.
