Karim Benzema's comments over comparisons between him and former French national teammate Olivier Giroud have set social media ablaze.
The Real Madrid hitman, in his own words, said; “You don’t compare Formula 1 with karting, and I am being nice,” on Instagram Live.
“Next…I know that I am Formula 1.
“It works because he is there, that is the only reason. It won’t be spectacular, he won’t do something amazing, but he has his thing.
“Aside from that, does everyone like the way he plays? I don’t know.”
These words have caused a storm and Giroud's fans have not taken it lying down.
But who's the better player between the two?
To start us off, Giroud lifted the World Cup, which is arguably the ultimate prize in football following Benzema's banishment from the French national team.
Benzema has been phenomenal fro Real Madrid ever since joining them at the age of 21 and has won everything with the Los Blancos.
Giroud has been a bit-part player for much of his time at both Chelsea and Arsenal but still has managed to consistently find the back of the net whenever he plays.
The two are clearly brilliant strikers. Let's look at their statistics, maybe that can help us separate them.
Giroud has played for the French national team 97 times, scoring a total of 39 goals, while Benzema has 27 goals from 81 caps.
