Veteran Al Ahly star Ahmed Fathi will make his decision on his future with the club by Wednesday, his agent Nader Shawky has said.
Shawky at the same time and that contract talks with the club were going on well. Fathi had been scheduled to meet the club management over his uncertain future but the meeting was put off after he took a break with his family amid the coronavirus crisis.
Egyptian side Al Ahly had announced plans to tie down the team's four veteran players including Hossam Ashour, Sheriff Ekramy, Fathi and Walid Soliman.
The quartet is in the last year of their contracts and the Cairo club want to extend their services as it gears up to take a shot at CAF Champions League.
The meeting finally happened on Monday when Fathi met club representatives. It is understood that Fathi as offered a new contract and is expected to make a final decision within the next 48 hours.
The 35-year-old joined Red Devils from English premiership side Shielfield United before going to Kuwait's Kazma on loan. He rejoined the Cairo giants and has established himself as one of the most important players for the club in the last decade.
Fathi lifted over 15 trophies with Al Ahly since joining them and is showing no signs of slowing down as he captained his side to the CAF Champions League semi-finals this season and helped remain unbeaten in the Egyptian Premier League before it was suspended.
