Momo Yansane reveals why Belarus is yet to suspend the league despite coronavirus

Guinean international Momo Yansane has admitted that he's scared with coronavirus situation but is confident that Belarus government has put in measures to ensure everyone is safe as they remain the only country yet to suspend football activities.

Yansane currently plays for Belarusian side FC Isloch and has spoken about what drives him to go to the pitch every single day despite the pandemic.

"The situation scares me, yes, but not 100%, because security measures have been put in place by the state. And then you have to make a choice. I can't say that I'm not going to go to training. I am a simple player. My club pays me, feeds me and houses me. I must follow the decision of the club and the federation,"  Yansané told RFI.

The former FUS Rabat attacker says that although he's concerned about the deaths and the suffering the virus has caused, he has no option but to follow what Belarusian federation says.

“People all over the world are worried, with all these positive cases and all these deaths. This virus is eating away at our world. Here, however, life goes on without any worry. I am worried. My life is in danger. But working allows me to eat. So there is nothing we can do at the moment, except to follow the instructions of the Belarusian federation, CAF and FIFA," he added.

The Belarusian Premier League is drawing attention for allowing football matches to be played although almost all major sports organizations across the globe has postponed competition because of the coronavirus.

No restrictions have been imposed on matches and thousands of fans continue to gather at stadiums to watch matches. The league is the only football division in Europe allowing matches to be played. With just two weeks played in the current season, FC Minsk sits atop the league with six points.

More than 150 cases have been confirmed and no deaths were reported in Belarus that has a population of 9.5 million.
