Reports: Matty Longstaff looks at a 3,500% pay rise if he leaves Newcastle United

According to reports, Matty Longstaff will get a salary raise of about 3,500% if he joins Serie A side Udinese from Newcastle United.

The 20-year-old earns just £850-per-week at Newcastle as he remains on his academy contract at St James’ Park, a contract which expires this summer.

The Magpies have reportedly attempted to keep him by offering him a new deal believed to be in the region of £15,000-per-week, but he has an offer from Serie A club Udinese worth double that.

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie tweeted: “Matty Longstaff has been offered £30,000-a-week to sign for Serie A side Udinese. The midfielder flew out to Italy before lockdown, where held talks over a 5-year-deal. Longstaff wants to stay at Newcastle but Udinese’s offer is more than double that of Newcastle’s.”

He added: "Previous reports stated Marseille & Inter Milan were interested, but only Udinese have made a concrete offer so far. Matty been mulling it over for nearly 3 months, and due to takeover situation at Newcastle talks have reached an impasse.”

Udinese would have to pay Newcastle just £400,000 in compensation for Longstaff, due to his age.

Matty made his Premier League debut against Manchester United in October, where he scored the winning goal.
