Soares highlights Arsenal's objective

Arsenal defender Cedric Soares says Champions League qualification for next season remains the club's goal ahead of the final five matches of the campaign.

Arsenal have registered three successive league wins bringing the north London club back into the frame of qualifying to the Champions League. The Gunners are currently eighth on the log with four matches remaining. The last time the north London club finishes in the top four was in the season 2015/16 and despite having a slim chance of returning to Europe's elite, Cedric is confident they will get where they 'belong' eventually.

"The objectives haven’t been achieved, especially access to the Champions [League]," he told Portuguese newspaper Record.

"In England, only four teams are able to do this and we’ve seen big names being left out. A club like Arsenal belongs to that group. You have to work on the coach’s idea, improve the processes, and allow time because it can take time."

"Above all, there’s been an improvement and a club like Arsenal has to fight for those goals. This squad will want more and more and I’m sure it will achieve good things."
