Manchester United midfielder Fred says the club's season can be deemed a 'success', despite their elimination from the UEFA Europa League on Sunday night.
Fred was in the starting lineup against the Spanish side, and despite taking the lead early on, they fell 2-1 in yet another semi-final match.
The 27-year-old took to his Instagram account to encourage the club's fans, saying they should be excited about the future.
“Yesterday was a tough and painful night, but I’m sure we fought until the last minute and I am proud to be part of this team,” writes Fred, alongside a picture of a group huddle.
“Another season that ends, I want to thank God and everyone who supported us. Now it’s time to get some rest and get ready for the next season. UNITED!”
The Brazilian can be proud of his season after initial struggles in his first campaign in England, growing into one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's trusted midfield generals.
In total, Fred made 48 appearances in all competitions for United during the 2019/20 season.
The new English Premier League season kicks off on September 12.
