Liverpool and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement to sign midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
According to the Athletic, Liverpool has now agreed to pay Bayern Munich €30m (£27.4m) to sign Thiago this summer.
Negotiations have accelerated since Monday after Bayern officials made it clear they wanted a deal completed before the start of the Bundesliga season, which starts tomorrow with the European champions hosting Schalke the tabloid reported.
Alcantara expressed his desire to leave Bayern this summer with Manchester United said to be the other team that had shown interest in the player.
Alcantara was crucial as Bayern won the treble last season and his addition to the Liverpool squad will a boost for the side who opened their Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 4-3 win over newcomers Leeds.
The player is expected to fill the void expected to be left by Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum who has strongly been linked with a move to FC Barcelona.
