Leicester 0-1 Aston Villa: Ross Barkley scores stoppage-time winner as Villans move to second

Ross Barkley scored a late stunning goal for Aston Villa as they stunned Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday night.

It was the Villans' second successive win, after their surprise 7-2 victory over champions Liverpool last week.

Wesley Fofana made his debut for the Foxes in the absence of Çağlar Söyüncü, and there was also a place for Kelechi Iheanacho in the starting team in place of Jamie Vardy.

The game was devoid of open chances in the opening half, with the first real chance falling to Ayoze Perez, but the keeper made a stunning save to deny the forward.

The visitors too got a chance but Trezeguet's shot on the 26th minute lacked enough power and pace.

The second half was similar to the first, and it seemed the match was heading for a 0-0 draw before Barkley changed the scoreline with a long-range shot after picking a John McGinn pass.

The win saw Villa move to second behind Everton, and remain the only team with a perfect record in the 2020/21 Premier League season.
