English Premier League giants Liverpool have begun talks with Bundesliga side Schalke over the availability of defender Ozan Kabak.
The Reds wants a replacement for Virgil Van Dijk who is expected to be out for the remainder of the season with the Jurgen Klopp side said to be going all out for a defender in January.
The Mirror now reports that Liverpool has opened talks with Schalke about a £20million New Year swoop for the 20-year-old Turkish center back.
Liverpool is said to have been interested in the player in the summer but didn’t make a move owing to the financial ramifications brought about by the Covid pandemic; Schalke valued Kabak at £40million before Europe's lockdown ravaged the game's finances.
The Bundesliga side is expected to ask for £30million from Liverpool and the English side is prepared to pay an initial £20million with further payments coming later.
