REPORTS: Real Madrid make contact with Mauricio Pochettino

Real Madrid has made contact with Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino over the possibility of taking over as a manager at the club.

Madrid has not started the season in the fashion they would have wanted to and despite their Saturday win over arch-rivals Barcelona, there is still a feeling that things have not been right at the club under the stewardship of Zinedine Zidane.

Reports from El Transistor now claims that Real chiefs have already made contact with Pochettino on potentially taking over should Zidane leave.

Before the El-Clasico match, Madrid had lost to Laliga newbies Cadiz and followed it up by another loss to Shakhtar Donetsk - who had 10 players missing through coronavirus-in the Champions League with both matches being home games.

It is not clear whether Madrid is contemplating sacking the Frenchman but the club is known for parting ways with their managers if results don’t go their way.

Zidane left shortly after winning Real's third Champions League title in a row in 2018 after a clash with club president Florentino Perez but was redeployed again later.

Pochettino has been a free agent since leaving Tottenham last year and apart from Real Madrid, he has been linked with a move to Manchester United who has not started their season well too under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
