Spanish giants Barcelona could name their Stadium after superstar Lionel Messi should Emili Rousaud become the new club's president.
After Josep Maria Bartomeu resigned as Barcelona's president in the midst of a bitter public dispute with Messi, the elections are set to be held next year. The Argentine's future at Barca is still to be resolved, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season and a number of clubs reportedly interest.
However, one of the men who could succeed Bartomeu has made a huge election promise that could convince Messi to stay put.
"We will hold a referendum to change the name of the stadium to Camp Nou - Leo Messi," he told Marca while outlining his plans.
Messi is Barcelona's most decorated player (34 trophies) and the club's all-time top goalscorer (640 goals). The Argentine is also likely to surpass Xavi's record for all-time appearances (767) before the season is out, needing to play just 26 more games.
