🔴 Fred head-butt offence that didn’t get a red card explained

Manchester United midfielder Fred escaped a red card after he appeared to have head-butted PSG midfielder, Leandro Paredes.

The incident wasn’t captured by referee Daniele Orsato but after the player went down, the official went to consult the VAR screen, only to return to issue a yellow card much to the amazement of many.

The Brazilian midfielder, however, didn’t finish the game as he was sent off the second half for a second bookable offence.

The move has since generated a debate with the same move handing Arsenal’s Nicolas Pepe a red card in their game against Leeds United recently.

So what are the rules about red card offences?

  • Serious foul play
