Tottenham Hotspur moved to third in the English Premier League standings with a comfortable 3-0 win over Leeds on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts opened the scores from the spot in the 29th minute, and they got off and running from that point on.
Son Heung-min then gave Jose Mourinho's men a second with his 100th goal in a Spurs shirt in the 43rd minute with a nicely taken goal from a Kane cross.
Toby Alderweireld then ensured there was no nervy ending to the match with a third four minutes into the second-half with the goalkeeper at fault for the goal.
The visitors though were the better side for long periods and could have scored twice in the opening 20 minutes.
First Ezgjan Alioski was unlucky to bury his shot inches wide of the right post, and Patrick Bamford saw his header go over from 12 yards out.
All that changed though in the 29th minute as Steven Bergwijn was brought down inside the area, allowing Kane to score his first goal of the year.
Kane and Son then combined once again just before the break, with the Englishman delivering a perfectly-weighted cross for the latter to find the net.
Goal! Harry Kane produces a great pass that finds Heung-Min Son (Tottenham) inside the penalty area, who takes advantage of the situation to rifle a shot into the bottom right corner. 2-0#TOTLEEpic.twitter.com/vHqNkE081a— Bobi (@Bobbi0987) January 2, 2021
They took the game away from the visitors four minutes into the second period with Alderweireld squeezing a header past the goalkeeper for a 3-0 lead.
Spurs though were reduced to 10 men in stoppage time as Matt Doherty was given a second yellow for a poor challenge on Raphina.
The win moved Spurs to third place, four points off Liverpool and Manchester United.
