Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has admitted that they are closer is securing the services of Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.
Ozil has been frozen out of the Arsenal first-team picture this season where he was excluded in the team’s squad for the Premier League and Europa League and despite strongly being linked with a move to DC United in the USA, Fenerbahce seems to have won the race to sign the playmaker.
"Mesut Özil is still a dream. Not a single person from Fenerbahce has not made a statement. There are issues between Mesut and Arsenal. We are closer than before.
"There is nothing finished. It may or may not end. It is in our hands to come out of the news as it is finished. The club knows what the coach wants and our transfer policy is guided by that. We speak when the signatures are signed. The news comes out until the signatures but we only talk after the signatures,” Koc told TRT Spor after their Monday's 3-0 win against BB Erzurumspor.
Ozil move to Turkey was spurred earlier in the week when his brother posted a picture of a Fenerbahce badge on his Instagram story along with a winking face emoji.
