Former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has claimed that his former club misses more than he misses them.
The utterances are expected to stir a debate among Liverpool fans who are currently struggling defensively due to the absence of some of their first-team players.
In an interview with Russian outlet Sport-Express, the 31-year-old once again admitted that he doesn’t regret leaving the Jurgen Klopp side and got upset in his last season at the club because he wasn’t being given games.
“No, I do not regret it. My decision in the summer was firm-to leave Liverpool, and I do not look back. I got upset last season when I didn’t play, but now everything is different. I think Liverpool miss me more than I miss them. Jurgen Klopp knows this because we talk. He wrote to me recently: ‘We miss you’,” Lovren said.
The Croatian international however had a lot of good things to say about Klopp admitting that the German taught him a healthier work ethic during his time at Anfield.
“It doesn’t matter if you play against Arsenal Tula, Lazio or Borussia Dortmund, the mood should be the same, that is what is why I want to show everyone. This is what I learned at Liverpool. It’s not just against Chelsea and Manchester United that you need to give your best. It’s necessary to constantly and consistently maintain a high level of football,” he added.
Lovren left Anfield last summer for Russian giants Zenit Saint Petersburg where he has become an integral player for the team.
