Newcastle United might raid Manchester United for the services of midfielder Jesse Lingard.
Lingard has fallen down the pecking order at United since the arrival of Bruno Fernandes in January 2020 and according to The Daily Mail, Newcastle wants the player to boost their survival chances.
The reports claim that the future of the player at Old Trafford will be decided after United’s Sunday clash against Liverpool in the FA Cup with the player having been linked with a move away from the club since last summer.
There are reports that the Englishman has been chopped off United’s 22 man squad for the second leg with his place taken by youngster Amad Dialo who officially joined the club from Atalanta this month.
Despite the 28 year old featuring only thrice for United this season, there are reports that he might be given a chance to showcase his potential against Liverpool on Sunday. United feels that if the player can perform in the game and make it to the next round of the competition then Lingard might be urged to stay as they fight in three competitions (Premier League, FA Cup, and Europa League).
West Brom are still in the running to sign Jesse Lingard on loan, according to the Daily Mail.— WBA Report (@WBAReport) January 23, 2021
Newcastle and Sheffield United are also keen. Man United are expected to decide his future after the cup tie with Liverpool.
