Liverpool star Sadio Mane has explained why Roberto Firmino is responsible for their respective legendary statuses at Anfield.
Speaking in response to the increased criticism towards Firmino this season, Mane defended his Brazilian teammate as the conductor of the trio’s attack in winning the UEFA Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020.
“He deserves more credit than me and Mo for sure,” Salah said via Goal.
“He's always seeing [opportunities for] goals, but I think without Bobby I don’t see myself or Mo scoring as many goals as we do, to be honest. Because he makes everything easier for us.
“I think Brazil are just lucky to have Firmino. I’d love to… I always say ‘Bobby, you have to change your nationality and come to Senegal’, which for me would be a dream.
"I just love him. And as a team-mate I think he’s my favourite team-mate. I love him,” the former Southampton and Red Bull Salzburg star concluded.
Liverpool career goals:
- Mane: 92
Meanwhile, the champions travel to Sheffield United for a league game on Sunday.
