Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has explained his decision to drop Tammy Abraham for the Premier League clash against Man United at Stamford Bridge.
The England international was not in the team, with Olivier Giroud preferred upfront, while Timo Werner had to settle for a place on the bench.
Speaking in his post-match press, Tuchel noted it is always a hard decision to leave out some players, but it has to be done.
"Selection," he responded to the question of why Abraham was not in the team. "We have 21 strong players and only 18 possible. It's my job to make the hard decisions and Tammy was not with the group,"
In Abraham's absence, Giroud led the lines perfectly, even though he could not find the net before he was replaced in the second half.
The Blues were forced to settle for a goalless draw, and they remain unbeaten under Thomas Tuchel after nine games.
Next up is a match against Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool on Thursday night at Anfield, a clash that will carry so much significnce.
