Pedro Neto is 21 years old today and he's already establishing himself as one of the Premier League's most eye-catching stars.
🥜 Neto's Wolves career so far
Neto has appeared in all of Wolves' 28 Premier League matches this season, weighing in with five goals and five assists in the top-flight. 27 of his 28 appearances have been from the start, compared to last season where 20 of his 29 EPL outings were from the substitutes bench.
This is indicative of Neto's growing importance within the Wolves set up at Molineux under compatriot Nuno Espirito Santo.
💶 Accumulated transfer fees
According to transfermarkt, the accumulated value of fees paid for Neto already exceeds €34m. The €18.3m that Wolves forked out to secure the talented winger on a long-term deal shows just how much confidence they have in him. Neto got a start at Braga in his native Portugal, had a loan spell with Lazio in Italy's Serie A and now one of the first names on Wolves' team sheet in the Premier League.
🧮 What's so good about Neto?
Pedro Neto is an old-school winger who isn't afraid to get to the byline and supply cutbacks to oncoming strikers. He's equally comfortable on both feet, a relatively rare quality in football, and one that makes him dangerous from anywhere in the final third. Neto doesn't hesitate in shifting the ball quickly so that he can cross or shoot. Net's directness is probably his greatest asset.
2020-21 has been a challenging campaign for players and clubs around the globe, and Wolves are no different, but they've steadied the ship lately with three wins and just a solitary defeat in their last seven EPL outings.
Next up they welcome faltering champions Liverpool to Molineux. Neto and his teammates will hope to inflict more damage on Jurgen Klopp's top-four ambitions; the teams meet on March 15th.
