English Premier League giants Manchester United are planning to bid for Real Madrid fender Raphael Varane.
United are in the market for another central defender to bolster their ranks and according to The Sun, they will be going out for the French defender who has 18 months left on his Madrid contract.
It is not the first time United has been linked with the central defender with the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side having enquired about his availability three years ago when he was valued at a fee in the region of £100m.
Varane joined Madrid in 2011 from Lens and has established himself as one of the best center-backs in the world winning three La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies.
With his contract running down, Madrid is expected to ask for a fee in the region of £60m for the 27-year-old. There is a feeling by the player that he has achieved everything possible at Madrid and the national team and wants a new challenge before he calls it a day in his playing career.
United however are not the only team interested in the player as reports suggest that PSG are in the race too for Varane’s signature with the enticement of heading back home seen as something that would be juicy for the defender.
