JUST IN: Flick set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season

After a squabble with Bayern Munich's sporting director, Hansi Flick has announced his departure.

The Bayern Munich manager, who led the club to Champions League success in 2020, will leave the German giants after a transfer dispute with Hasan Salihamidzic.

Last season, Flick was dissatisfied with the way the club handled the summer transfer window, having allowed Thiago Alcantara to leave and failing to find a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Speaking after Saturday’s 3-2 win over Wolfsburg, he said: 'I told the team today that I informed the club during the week, after the game in Paris, I would like to terminate my contract at the end of the season.'

Following a tough year at the Allianz Arena, it has been speculated that the 56-year-old will leap at the chance to replace Low.

Despite the fact that Bayern Munich is on track to maintain their Bundesliga crown, they were knocked out of the DFB-Pokal in January by second-tier Holstein Kiel.

After losing the first leg of the quarter-final tie 3-2, their Champions League defense came to an end on Tuesday with a 1-0 win over PSG, sending them out on away goals.
