Luis Suarez returned to Camp Nou for the first time since his departure on Saturday afternoon, when Atletico Madrid faced Barcelona in a crucial La Liga match.
As is typical for the Uruguayan, he was up for the challenge, playing with his normal vigor and competitiveness. He went down a little better than the incident deserved after a collision with Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Ter Stegen was quick to reprimand his former teammate, wise to his ways, and was soon joined by Gerard Pique. “You’re alright, fat man, don’t screw with me,” the Catalan center-back said to Suarez according to Mundo Deportivo. “You’re alright.”
The game ended in a scoreless draw, which suited neither side in the end.
It has given Real Madrid the opportunity to take control of the title race this evening as they face Sevilla, as well as allowing Sevilla to claw their way back into contention if they win.
Atletico Madrid currently leads the table with 77 points from 35 games. Barcelona is in second place with 75 points from 35 games, while Madrid is in third place with 74 points from 34 games. Sevilla is in fourth place with 70 points from 34 games.
