Arsenal 3-1 West Brom: Baggies get RELEGATED after defeat

West Bromwich Albion have been relegated from the Premier League for the fifth time after a 3-1 loss at Arsenal, which leaves the Gunners' slim chances of qualifying for Europe alive.

Sam Allardyce's side were still on the verge of relegation, but their return to the Championship has now been confirmed, with the Baggies 10 points from safety with three games to go.

After Arsenal had stifled the visitors' promising start, Emile Smith Rowe volleyed a smart opener from Bukayo Saka's cross in the 29th minute.

Six minutes later, Nicolas Pepe made it much more difficult for West Brom as he cut in from the right and curled a goal into the top corner to double Arsenal's advantage.

With 23 minutes remaining, Matheus Pereira gave the visitors hope by scoring a superb individual goal from his own half.

However, it was not enough to save West Brom from a joint-record fifth Premier League relegation, as Willian scored a late free-kick for Arsenal.

With a win, Arsenal, who were eliminated from the Europa League on Thursday, have a statistical chance of playing European football next season.
