Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez says he is happy with the Italian side amid reports linking him with a move away from San Siro.
Martinez has attracted history from a number of clubs across Europe including the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea. The 23-year-old signed for Milan in the summer of 2018 for a reported fee of £22.5million from the Argentine side Racing Club.
The Argentine came close to joining Barcelona last summer but a deal failed to materialize and the forward says he has no regrets.
"Barcelona? Yes, it is true, it was a concrete possibility," he told El Libero.
"But we ended the season late, and there were also the COVID problems so I decided to stay. I’m telling you, thankfully! It was the right decision! Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund wanted me, but one day I spoke with Ausilio, Zanetti, and Milito."
"I understood that Milano was the perfect solution for me, the right city in the right moment. And I didn’t make a mistake, I liked everything from the first day, the club, the fans."
Relationship with Conte
"Conte? I like him but even if he leaves, I’m an Inter player and I will continue to work for Inter," he added.
"It is clear to me the moment we’re living, we will talk to the club and find a solution. We will have to understand altogether."
"It is not true that we are angry about the salaries, we are very relaxed, we are concentrated on the pitch."
The 23-year-old has netted 16 goals while providing eight assists in the Serie A this season.
