Manchester United's quest for a replacement center-back has reportedly shifted to Juventus player Cristian Romero.
The Red Devils are on the lookout for a long-term partner for Harry Maguire, with Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof still being scrutinized.
Romero is being carefully considered by United, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, after excelling on loan with Atalanta BC.
Last season, Romero was one of the top defenders in Serie A, guiding his team to seven clean sheets on their way to third place. Atalanta has the option to buy the Argentina international outright for £21.5 million, which they appear to have decided to do.
United, on the other hand, is expected to put a £39 million bid for the 23-year-old on the table to test La Dea's commitment.
The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League last season and are rumored to be interested in signing four new players this summer.
