The former Free State Stars player was one of the standout players for the Swedish side this past season, attracting interest from a host of European sides including Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic.
Okumu signed for Elfsborg immediately after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and has grown from strength to strength.
He now becomes the third Kenyan to play for Gent, following the successes of former Harambee Stars midfielders Robert Mambo and John 'Mo' Muiruri.
