Giroud bids Chelsea farewell to join AC Milan

Olivier Giroud has said his goodbyes to Chelsea and is ready to join AC Milan on a two-year deal.

On Friday morning, the France international arrived at Milan's La Madonnina clinic for a medical before the transfer.

According to Sky Italia, Giroud signed his contract with AC Milan after passing his physical, and ahead of the club's formal announcement, the striker thanked his previous team on Twitter.

"To all the Blues, to my teammates, to all my coaches, to the whole club, a huge thank you for these special moments," he wrote.

"I'm starting a new journey with a light and happy heart. Our victories in FA Cup, Europa League, and Champions League have been magnificent."

The fee for Giroud is expected to be about €1 million (£855,000), with an additional €1 million (£855,000) in bonuses contingent on a certain number of appearances and Champions League qualification.

Last summer, the 34-year-old signed a new one-year contract with Chelsea, and the club exercised an option to extend it for another 12 months last month.
