Brendan Rodgers can't explain why Tielemans is yet to sign a new Leicester deal

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers cant explain why midfielder Youri Tielemans is yet to sign a new deal with the club.

The Belgian caused a stir early this week when he claimed that he was leaving his options open regarding his future at the King Power Stadium with rumours rife that he might join Manchester United in the summer should they lose Paul Pogba.

Ahead of their Europa League tie against Napoli, Rodgers said: "I've seen what Youri said, he gave an honest answer. I have a player who is so committed and is one of the best professionals I've ever worked with. Talks are ongoing.

"He comes in every day and works hard, and because of the professionalism of Youri, that won't change whether he's here for five years or six months. It's up to his representatives and the club to determine how long he stays.

"I have no idea (why talks are taking so long). I concentrate on football. There's no drama. It only becomes a problem if there's a lack of commitment, but that's not a problem with Youri."

Tielemans has two years left on his deal and despite helping the club to a trophy this year, the player is said to be keen on moving to a bigger club.
