Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update on his team ahead of the weekend clash against West Ham.
The Reds suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat away to Young Boys in the Champions League in midweek and will be looking to bounce back.
Speaking on Thursday during a pre-match conference, the Norwegian first gave the latest on Edinson Cavani, who is recovering from an injury he picked during the international break.
“Edinson hopefully will start training with us after the weekend,” Ole added. “Hopefully, maybe Monday.
“Maybe he’ll be involved on Wednesday because he had a fantastic season last season.
“The impact he made towards the end of it when he got his fitness… because he struggled early on with fitness, he struggled with niggles.
“We feel now to get the best out of Edinson this season we need him to have 100 percent fit and not pushing. We’ve got a strong squad that will cope with having to let players heal and don’t risk any further injuries.
“I see Edinson having a massive impact because he’s that type of personality and a player. He’s a top professional and he can’t wait to get back on. He’s working really hard to get back on the pitch.”
United will also miss the services of Amad and Marcus Rashford through injury, but there is positive news as Phil Jones and Dean Henderson made a positive step in their recovery by featuring for the U23 team.
West Ham, on the other hand, warmed for the clash in London with a comfortable 2-0 win away to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Hammers are in good shape ahead of the weekend match but will miss the services of Michail Antonio, who is suspended.
The two sides will clash twice in the space of four days, with a Carabao Cup third-round tie at Old Trafford on Wednesday following hot on the heels of Sunday's match.
