Villarreal will have a late fitness check on defender Juan Foyth ahead of their Wednesday test against Manchester United.
Foyth has been a main figure for manager Unai Emery this season having managed seven starts from eight games in all competitions in 2021/22.
The former Tottenham defender was forced off in the final minutes of Villarreal’s 0-0 La Liga draw with Real Madrid and could now miss the trip to Old Trafford.
The player managed to fight for his side until full time but was withdrawn for Mario Gaspar by Emery in what was seen as a precaution so as the player could not aggravate his injury; the defender headings straight to the tunnel at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu after the sub.
Foyth has been played as a right back in recent games and should he fail to make the tie, Gaspar is the most likely direct replacement for him.
Villarreal are expected to give a fitness update on the player in the coming days ahead of their travel to the UK on Tuesday.
