πŸ›£οΈ A look at four possible destinations for Man City outcast, Raheem Sterling

Last week, Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling stated that he is willing to leave the club in pursuit of consistent playing time.

The 26-year-old struggled with the Citizens at the conclusion of last season, and has since struggled to unseat summer addition Jack Grealish in the starting lineup.

Sterling, who has fewer than two years left on his contract, now has an uncertain future at the Etihad Stadium, with numerous clubs throughout Europe reportedly keeping an eye on his position.

But, where would he go?

⚪ Real Madrid

Real Madrid have been linked with the Englishman in recent months as they explore making another 'Galactico' acquisition.

There's no denying that Los Blancos' top goal is Paris Saint-Kylian Germain's Mbappe, but if a deal for the Frenchman fails to materialize, Sterling may be a player they turn their focus to.

Real Madrid were reportedly ready to rekindle their interest in the forward after previously failing to attract him away from Manchester, according to a report from the summer.

Sterling was happy at City at the time, but now that he's considering a move abroad, Real may see this as an opportunity to jump ahead of their competitors and chase him in one of the following transfer windows.

Although a relocation to the Santiago Bernabeu in January or the summer of 2022 does not appear to be a priority for Los Blancos at the moment, it cannot be ruled out. Sterling's arrival might cast question on the futures of Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard, and Isco, all of whom have been connected with departures from the club.

🔷 Barcelona

Despite their financial difficulties, Barcelona appear to be the frontrunners to sign Sterling, and they are considering signing him on loan in January.

The Catalan giants, who now 'have the money' to spend on new players, are reportedly making headway in their efforts to recruit the forward in the winter window, with one report claiming that optimism is building that a deal may be reached.

Man City are said to have no plans to let Sterling leave the club in the middle of the season, but they will not prevent him from doing so if the proper chance arises.

🔫 Arsenal

Mikel Arteta, who previously worked with Sterling as an assistant coach at Manchester City, is allegedly eager to rejoin with the forward, with whom he has a 'great relationship.'

As the long-term futures of Alexandre Lacazette, 30, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 32, remain uncertain, the Gunners' head coach is trying to recruit younger strikers.

Arteta is so enamored by Sterling that one rumor claims Arsenal offered City a player-plus-cash deal including three of their players: William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli, and Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsenal were the most expensive Premier League club last summer, spending nearly £140 million on six players, so whether their owners can afford to pay even more on the England star remains to be seen.

🔴 Liverpool

Sterling left Anfield six years ago to join City for a then-English-transfer record fee of £49 million. Could a stunning return to Liverpool be on the cards now?

Jurgen Klopp is looking to bolster his offensive options and will pursue younger players, as the formidable trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane will all be in their 30s by next season's start.

All three players, though, are beloved by Liverpool fans and are in their prime years, with Salah in particular firing on all cylinders, so the German manager should have no cause to replace them anytime soon.

There is no denying Sterling's skill, as he has made 303 appearances for the Citizens, scoring 115 goals and giving 88 assists. His possible presence to Liverpool would surely strengthen them.
