Trent Alexander-Arnold reveals Liverpool’s plan to beat Man United

When Liverpool face Manchester United on Sunday, Trent Alexander-Arnold feels the Reds' defense, not their dangerous forwards, will be the 'basis for the result.'

On Sunday afternoon, the Reds go to Old Trafford to face United in the Premier League, and Jurgen Klopp's side is in excellent form.

After a 5-0 thumping of Watford in the Premier League last weekend, confidence is high after an outstanding 3-2 win away at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

Liverpool are the Premier League's leading scorers with 22 goals in just eight games, six more than any other team, but Alexander-Arnold believes the defense will be crucial.

The England international is aware of the threat posed by players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, and Mason Greenwood, and believes that once they have been nullified, Liverpool will be able to exploit United's flaws with their own striker.

‘I think, first and foremost, it’s having a good defensive structure,’ Alexander-Arnold told LiverpoolFC.com

‘They have outstanding attacking talent that we need to kind of keep quiet. They’ve got big names, they’re a strong, attacking side on the back of a good comeback in midweek, so they’ll have a bit of confidence.

‘But I think our defensive shape will be the foundation for the result, for the performance. Get that right and then go and build with the ball and go and attack their weaknesses really.

‘We’ll analyze where they’re weak, what we can do to get past them, around or over them.

‘It’ll be an interesting game, a tactical one, it’ll be full of passion for it. But we are confident going into it.’

Liverpool's potent strike force of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, and either Roberto Firimno or Diogo Jota has kept them unbeaten in the Premier League this season.
