Steven Gerrard has risked the wrath of Manchester United fans. The Aston Villa manager has said the Red Devils faithful were not hostile enough towards him last Monday at Old Trafford.
Gerrard’s Villa narrowly lost 1-0 in the FA Cup encounter where Scott McTominay headed in the winner in the first half.
The match saw the return of Villa boss Gerrard to Old Trafford for the first time since representing Liverpool in one of English football's most bitter rivalries.
It was thought the home fans were going to terrify Gerrard with a hostile reception.
“Relatively quiet. I have been to noisier stadiums than this,” Gerrard said at the post-match press conference.
“It was a good cup tie, a good atmosphere but in terms of what I got, water off a duck’s back,” he added.
Meanwhile, the two sides to meet again this weekend in the English Premier League at Villa Park.
