Wayne Rooney reacts to Everton links

Derby County manager Wayne Rooney says he is flattered by reports linking him with Everton's managerial position.

Everton are currently without a permanent manager after Rafa Benitez was sacked following the club's 2-1 loss to Norwich City. Rooney is being linked with a return to Premier League but the United legend says he is focused on Derby.

"I’m the same as everyone else. I see the speculation on social media and in the newspapers," Rooney responded when asked about reports linking him with Everton.

"Of course, Everton is the club that I grew up supporting and I’m flattered to be getting brought up in them conversations."

"But I know Everton will know that in order for them to have any communication with me, they have to go through the administrators."

Frank Lampard, Roberto Martinez and Fabio Cannavaro are also linked with the vacant position at Everton.
