Barcelona defender Dani Alves has announced he will leave the Spanish giants at the end of the month when his contract expires.
Alves returned to Barcelona in November last year on a free transfer from Sao Paolo. The 39-year-old has since made 16 appearances on his second stint, netting a single goal while providing three assists in the process.
The Brazilian's contract with the Catalans is set to expire at the end of the month and the club decided against extending his deal beyond that point.
"Dear Culés. Now it’s time for us to say goodbye.," the veteran defender posted on his Instagram account.
"I would like to thank all the staff for the opportunity they gave me to return to Barça and to be able to wear this wonderful shirt again, they don’t know how happy I am!"
"I hope Barcelona don’t miss my craziness and daily happiness. I hope that those who remain at Barça change the history of this beautiful club, I wish it with all my heart."
The Catalans continue to be linked with Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
