Free State Stars head coach Luc Eymael has blasted Bangaly Keita for an injury the defender sustained on Tuesday against Kaizer Chiefs.
The former AFC Leopards tactician claimed the defender wasted a substitution slot by getting the injury in the 42nd minute. They lost the match 2-0 and will face Highlands Park on Saturday.
"Keita...he lay down on the ground at the 40th minute. I'm not happy because during the day yesterday [Monday] he went to the physio to say 'Yeah my hamstring is tight'. The physio called me and after that, I called [and] he said 'No, no, no problem coach, I will play, I'm 100 per cent I'm okay',” Eymel said.
Stars have just a win into the league so far and sit just above bottom-placed Maritzburg United. They are among clubs that have played more games in the league standing at six.
“I will not give up until the end. I will try to find and see what happens. It will show on Saturday it will be a must win, but it will be very hard because you know how Highlands Park can be compact. How fast they can play the counter-attack, and how difficult it was for big teams to beat Highlands Park, but we have no other solution to try to win.” Eymael said on their upcoming match against 7th placed Park.
