Akwa United played to a 1-1 draw against Kano Pillars in a Nigeria Professional Football League match on Sunday, January 20.
However, Akwa United will be looking to get three points during the midweek clashes when they host Plateau United on Wednesday, January 23.
According to Brazilian coach Rafael Everton, Plateau United will be difficult to beat for Akwa United because they have a strong side and a good coach.
"We respect them, but we need maximum points against them for the fans to enjoy the game, I believe that after the draw at Pillars, the team will start winning again," Everton said.
On the other hand, Plateau United head coach Abdu Maikaba will be in be looking to down Akwa as he is said to be familiar with the structure having coached them two years ago.
Everton also said he was delighted with the overall results as well as the outcome at Kano Pillars.
"I am happy we got a point from a difficult game at Pillars, a big team in Nigeria," he said.
"I told them to play this game like a cup final and we played good football and created chances."
"We lost our first match at home (to El Kanemi Warriors) and I told the players this is football and it can happen, we only have to focus and look forward to the next game."
Ninth-placed Akwa United will go head to head against Plateau United who are currently sixth on the log on Wednesday, January 22.
Kickoff is set for 17H00.
