PREVIEW: Vipers SC make trip to Tooro United

Current league champions Vipers SC will make the trip to Buhinga to take on Tooro United wary of the decent record the home side holds at their new home on Tuesday, February 12.

Tooro United are reportedly yet to lose a game at the Buhinga venue since relocation in the 2018/19 season and are set pose a massive threat to the reigning champions.

The Venoms come into the game on the back of a stunning 1-3 home defeat at home to SC Villa and Michael Nam Ouma has demanded his charges to show top character.

“They’re strong at home,” he told the club's official website.

“They fight and have good players but we are not going to fear them, there’s no doubt the boys must show character and pick positive results.”

Wasswa Bbosa, whose side picked a vital win at the death against Paidha Black Angels on Saturday, is confident ahead of the tie.

“For us, we treat each game normally but the target is always to pick maximum points,” he said. “Of course playing at home gives us confidence and it doesn’t matter who we play,” he added.

Team News

The hosts have no injury worries but the hosts are still without midfielder cum defender Geoffrey Wasswa as well as suspended team captain, Taddeo Lwanga.

Tito Okello, the scorer in their past two games is also out of the squad that travelled to Tooro on Monday, February 11.

Allan Kayiwa, Baker Buyala and Simon Sserunkuma are the possible key players for the hosts while the visitors will rely on forwards Dan Sserunkuma and new signing Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza.

Tooro United are sixth on the log with 27 points while Vipers are second with 37 points respectively.

The previous eleven meetings have produced zero wins for Tooro United and 8 for Vipers.

The reverse fixture ended in a goalless draw at Kitende and cost Mexican Javier Martinez Espinoza his job.
