SUPL: URA clip Kirinya on Ssimbwa's return

URA FC head coach made a winning comeback as his team muscled out Kirinya Jinja SSS FC 2-0 on Thursday at the Mandela national stadium in Namboole.

Team skipper Shafiq Kagimu was named man of the match for his third minute goals in the first and second stanzas.

Kirinya coach Abbey Kikomeko, who was in charge of his fifth game since taking over, opted to go with some bit of caution deploying George Kasonko, Nelson Mandela and Douglas Muganga deep in the midfield.

However, URA were quick to respond as they searched for an early lead. The goal arrived as soon as the third minute through a controversial goal.

Abang Cromwell clutched a long ball from the right wing with a short pass for Kagimu who passed it over to Joachim Ojera, who at first sight seemed off.

The forward decided to go for the kill with a short on his second touch but Rubangakene was able to stop. However, the keeper failed to grip on the ball spilling it for Kagimu to smash home.

Kirinya made several attempts thereafter but Madondo and Mayanja's close calls were switched off by Alitho.

Kagimu returned with, another yet controversial goal which Kirinya officials appeared to be against, just after the break.

The match also signalled Sam Ssimbwa's return to the touchline after serving a four-game touchline ban.

The game also ended on a sad note as Siraje Sentamu was rushed to hospital following an ugly challenge with Dan Sewava.

URA climb a place above to 6th place as Kirinya remain stuck on 11th with 24.
