Giroud ecstatic after bagging his first Chelsea hat-trick
Olivier Giroud starred in the 5-0 annihilation of Dynamo Kyiv bagging his first Chelsea hat-trick and provided an assist for Callum Hudson-Odoi as they progressed to the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
The three goals took him to the summit of the top scorer's chart of the Europa League this season with nine goals, one more than Munas Dabbur and Wissam Ben Yedder whose teams are already eliminated from the competition. The hat-trick was also a perfect hat-trick as he netted with his right-foot, left-foot and a headed finish.
Speaking to the club's official portal after the game, Giroud couldn't hide his excitement following his hat-trick, "I was very pleased with the goals I scored and the assist I gave to Callum. It was a great team performance today. When I am on the pitch I try to give everything for the team. In the second part [of the season] I play mostly, if I can say, in the Europa League games, so that’s why I score many less goals in the championship."
