Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has opted to rest Cristiano Ronaldo for the away trip to Genoa on Sunday evening.

The former Real Madrid ace has been left out the Juventus' squad for the Serie A test. Allegri opted to omit Ronaldo who received a call up from the Portugal national team. After helping the Bianconeri to advance to the Champions League quarter-finals, overturning a 2-0 deficit to Atletico Madrid, Allegri wants Ronaldo to get enough rest.

Ronaldo disqualified? Absolutely not. Everybody on Tuesday, in the stands or on the pitch, performed a different celebration. He will play two matches with the national team, risking him with Genoa would therefore not make sense and it is better that he would rest," said Allegri.

"Let's say that on Tuesday after the celebrations of 42 thousand at the Stadium they should disqualify them all, I don't see it as a strange thing but it is only a celebration, we are not afraid of the disqualification."

On facing Genoa

"Tomorrow it will be a difficult game. Genoa, at home, is a tough opponent and we have to have the right performance. In the first game [a 1-1 draw in October], we dropped points against them.”
